Bear Lake Getaway
Where You Always Feel At Home
Needing some time away, but don’t have your own cabin up north? Think of this as your home away from home, where you can experience the comforts of home without all the hassle and cleanup. You may come as strangers, but we want you to leave as friends.
We are uniquely equipped to handle your intimate, family lake vacation or host your small group retreats of up to 12 guests with our stress-free whole-house rental. We offer a breakfast-and-go package if you want to leave for the day and explore Northern Michigan. We also provide an option for meal planning, so you can just relax and get the most out of your time together.
We have 100 feet of lakefront access. In the summertime, for those wanting a true lake vacation, we offer outdoor games and toys, beach towels, fishing poles, two bicycles, floatation devices, movies, board games, and snacks and drinks. You can also bring your own boat, kayaks, or jet skis. During the cooler months, you can sled down the driveway on innertubes, snowshoe, ice fish, rent snowmobiles, or stay inside by the woodstove and read, play games, do a puzzle, or watch movies.
Of course, if you and your spouse just need some alone time, we can certainly accommodate you with an individual room rental where your focus can be on reconnecting and refreshing your spirit.
We are here to take care of you and want you to leave revived, and ready to tackle your hectic life outside of our bubble.
Our Service
Comfort and relaxation are our ultimate goals for you when you stay with us. For early risers, we have fresh coffee starting at 6am. Breakfast times vary based on the day and nature of your reservation. Our community kitchen is available 24/7. We have a coffee/tea station where you can make individual cups, and the refrigerator and cupboards are stocked with snacks and other beverages for your convenience.
Breakfast is also a big deal here, and you will never leave hungry. You may enjoy the company of other guests in our main dining area or choose to have breakfast on the side patio or in your room if you just need to decompress. Guests are given a menu to choose from the night before, and breakfast is prepared fresh by Maria. Many of our selections contain superfoods to power your day, but you won’t even know you’re eating healthy.
Our Area
Favorite local attractions include the cities of Lewiston and Gaylord.
Lewiston is about a 15-minute drive from our property. It’s our favorite place to stop for a fun coffee drink or a delicious lunch or dinner. Lewiston boasts several dining options and beautiful scenery on their Twin Lakes, as well as cute gift and souvenir shops.
Gaylord is about 30 minutes from our property, and it’s a gorgeous drive. It is known as the Alpine Village and has a long history. Gaylord is also considered a golf mecca, and people flock here to enjoy the beautifully manicured courses. During winter, the abundant snowfall transforms the community, and you will find the city flooded with snowmobile riders, as the area has many groomed riding trails.
Day Trips
Adventure awaits you in Northern Michigan. You won’t want to miss the breathtaking colors of autumn up north. The tourist destinations of Traverse City, Petoskey, Houghton Lake, Charlevoix, Boyne Mountain, Mackinaw City (which leads to the bridge and Mackinac Island) are all only about 90 minutes from our property in Johannesburg. For those preferring a hiking/biking day, we recommend the Louis Groen Nature Preserve in Johannesburg, or Hartwick Pines State Park in Grayling.
